I need some help on determining the correct size for replacing front coil springs. I recently purchased replacement coil springs for the front of my 1966 Ranchero, I was given 2 options, 6 cyl and 8 cyl. The original springs are 16 5/8" long and the diameter of the coil spring material is .692 +/-, the springs I received are 18 1/8" long and the spring material is .715 +/- diameter. I installed the new springs, one hell of a job, it raised the front end at least 3" and took any shock absorption out of the picture. Can any one tell me what the length of the new springs should be and what size material the coils should be fabricated from?

What size is the engine, 170, 200 or 289? Is it a Standard, Custom or Deluxe Ranchero?
If you're not sure, post the first 5 digits of the VIN / There were...at least 10 different front springs!
