I tested pressure off my fuel rail at 31lbs and shut my engine off...it took about 5 minutes, but I lost about 5lbs of pressure. Would this be a serious enough leak in an injector to cause a rough idle?
well, I'll add to the question...could something other than the injector be causing the pressure to go down without letting fuel out of the system (that I could see).
The truck starts fine the next day, so I am wondering if this type of pressure leak could be any issue?
That's not a significant "leak", and it's most likely just fuel going back into the tank thru the pump check valve, normally.
You should pull the codes, buy a Haynes manual & a multimeter, and test the sensors & actuators on the engine to find the source of the rough idle. It's usually the IAC, TPS, FPR, or a simple vacuum leak.
Well the only code I get now (since I replaced the plugged cat) is:
334 : EGR (EVP) closed valve voltage higher than expected
If I pull the vac hose off while running, no difference. I took the valve off and tested if anything could get through with no vac and it can't. the valve part seems not to be stuck either. Does this code suggest any other type of diagnosis?
Well, I put a piece of a beer can inbetween the EGR valve and the manifold to completely restrict any exhaust from getting into the intake...it may have helped a tiny bit, but same rough idle.
Does the EVP send info back to the computer that could effect the air/fuel mix?
