I am going to be turning the roters on my 2000 expy, and I am expecting a heck of a time based on the posts I have seen here. I do not want any surprises, so can one of you verify what size Torx sockets I will need?
Thanks for the info... 120 bucks!!?? I have seen new rotors priced at 50 beans each.. if mine give me a problem, i am cutting the *******s off and starting from scratch....
I have a 99' XLT, 2WD with just over 80,000 miles so my experience/opinion may not be comparable/compatible but I R/R the brakes last weekend and after reading the comments here, I decided to use Raybestos' Quiet Stop brake pads and in order to avoid any problems, I also opted to replace the front rotors.
I was able to get relacement rotors from the local O'rielly's Auto Parts for $65 + tax and the pads came from Pep Boys for $87! Not sure if this will help since the inner/outer wheel bearings simply insert inside the hub of the rotor and does not use a separate hub assembly like 4WD trucks. I do know that the job only took 2 hours including bleeding the system and considering I spent about 30-minutes cleaning brake dust off while doing the brakes, a week and 150 miles later I have next to no brake dust!
