so don't get me wrong...I have a 2008 V-10....this isnot an issue...more like a gotcha.

apparently during the production year, ford switched spark plug type and some have black boots or brown boots (short threads, long threads, single peice vs two piece, etc).

I thought I was buying a 2008 to get away from all the mickey mouse stuff of prior years but apparently you need an 09 to be scott free.

I think the cut off production date was feb of 08, my 08 was built on Nov of 07, so I am still in disney land.

Other than that...the external trans filter...if you have one...again..some do and dont...is pretty flimsy and uses connectors that are hard to work with.

front hub inner seal is still a problem and both of mine are just haning there like ear rings.

check to make sure there is a tire lock key in the glove compartment..the lock key is not in the spare tire kit and with out the key...you neeed to do some magilla gorilla stuff to get the spare off.

check the raidator for leaks...the top section is plastic.

If you get an early 08, the pan swap with the internal filter is easy and a good idea at around $150.

I left the remote filter in because it's got a magnet in it. That filter might only see 10% of flow when hot but hey, it's a second magnet.

After reading this I'm ready to sell my 08 280K miles on it pulling the fifth wheel, But I do have the brown boots and I guess the better trans cooler seeing it has the the original trans with those miles.
