New Guy's Blue

Hello all

Today we took delivery of our '77 F-150. She needs a little work and new tires, so it'll be a few days before we get to drive her home... but she's ours!

The previous owned had the truck since '78 and it's in pretty good shape. The motor is a non-catylitic 300 straight-6 with three-on-the-tree. What a blast to drive!

We will have better photos up soon, but for now-- here she is:

She'll be my restoration project while earning it's keep as a work truck

Looks like a really good start for a restoration project.

Lets see I think I have a photo to go with your avatar.

Gotta love Calvin & Hobbe's

I'm still working at cleaning up the body (lots of tar, scuffs, etc) and waxing it... thats when I really get to know the vehicle. In this case I've found a fair bit of rust, but nothing that can't bee repaired. Still have more work to do, but I'm enjoying it. Here is its other side at home:

I've replaced the 10-yr old tires and old rusty steel wheels with new Goodyear Wranglers and basic aluminum American Racing wheels. Some new suspension items, alternator, and cooling system flush and I'm back on the road with confidence There's a lot of rust in the bed as it's been a work truck for most of its life, so thats going to be the next thing I approach, then all the weather stripping needs to be replaced... there's always something with old vehicles--

I'm trying to decide what to do with the rust in the bed. Maybe some rust remover from Eastwood, then a paint on bed liner... still checking on options; I'm almost tempted to buy a new bed insert from LMC Truck, but I'd rather not spend the money if the original can be saved I'll post more photos of that project soon~
