hey everyone,
So jam replacing my 2001 f250 7.3 4r100 transmission. I have the the front drive shaft out unbolted from the transfer case. Also I have to rear drive shaft taken out of the rear axle. Question from here do I just pull the rear from the transfer case?! It's really in their pretty good. My guess is maybe some pb blaster and a rubber mallet to loosen it and it will eventually come out of the transfer case ?
Thanks
You've taken out the bolts holding the tranny bellhousing to the engine, correct? I'd remove the transfer case first, before pulling the tranny. Then a little wiggling and prying should free the tranny. Make sure you have the truck up high enough so the tranny clears the body on the tranny jack. Do that BEFORE you pull the tranny (I failed to do that about 35 years ago on a Torqueflite tranny, no fun at all). Also this is a good time to do the up-pipes after the tranny is out.
Do a search for transmission removal/installation....you should find plenty of info to help you out.
I haven't gotten that far yet jam still at the transfer case lol . Should the rear just slip out of the transfer case once I have it in bolted from the rear axle ? I tried pulling it but it's good on their.
