96 F-350 fuel mileage
Im looking to buy a 1996 F-350 PSD 5speed single rear wheel and i was wondering what kind of fuel mileage i would be getting and maybe if i should consider the F-250 instead, although im not to crazy about the two piece front axle. Are the gear ratios similar from the 250 to the 350? Another thing, this truck has 127,000 miles on it and its regular cab and the guy wants $11,700 for it, is this a good deal? Thanks alot.

The gear ratios are the same on the F250's and F350's. Both are available with 3.55:1 and 4.10:1 rear ends. My '95 SRW Crewcab AT with 4.10's has averaged 16.5mpg since I bought it, though it does better if there aren't any Dodges around.
Your question about price- it depends a lot on where you're located. PSD's are relatively cheap in Texas, relatively expensive in the Pacific Northwest. Up here in the Seattle area, what you've described is a screamin' deal.

Hey,
I've got a 1996 Ford F350 4x4 PSD 5spd Regular cab long bed with 4.10 gears. 106k at purchase, 124k now. It has been a dream. I paid 13000 on the road for mine about one year ago. Check front universals in the DANA 60 axle. I wouldn't have an F250 only because of the front suspension. Go for it if you can
