Rear Stabizer Bar

I bought a 2011 F350 CC SRW 4X4 Lariat. It is not the FX4 package. I noticed other similar trucks running around with a rear stabilizer bar. Mine does not have one. Was this an option when the truck was new? If so, does it really help at all? Can I add it to the truck?

Thanks for any input!

Hellwig

That should work on both 4x4 and 4x2. The back of the truck is the same for 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive.

The towing package adds the Ford rear sway bar. Mine didn't have one so I got the Hellwig Big Wig. It's a must have to haul a truck camper. Made a big difference! Love it! Easy to install too. And much beefier than Fords. $250 on amazon.

I'm contemplating removing mine, rear springs are so stiff, I'd like to improve my ride quality.

anti-sway bars do not make the ride stiffer.... just reduces the sway.

Yes, I forgot.. mine has tow package and camper package..

stiffness is Springs and to a lesser degree Shocks.

You're right, camper package not towing package. But the Hellwig is much bigger!

Bounce is caused by the springs and to a lesser degree shocks. The easy fix is sand bags behind the rear axle. My trucks rides great with 500 pounds in the bed.

I replaced my shocks and it helped but weight is what is needed in the bed.

Super Duties trucks are real trucks and the ride is not the same as a car.

I didnt say it makes the springs stiffer. I said my rear springs are very stiff. Implying that for me personally the sway bar isn't necessary. I want each side of my rear end to cycle independent of the other, which should make for a minute improvement in in ride quality.

Shocks are next on my list, I will be investing in some Bilsteins, just need to figure out the correct valving I require. I know my passenger side front is practically dead, it has very little dampening effect compared to the opposite side.
