Ignition Woes

I went to start my truck and no going. The key didn't click over, just smooth back to accesory and forward to start. I reach around to feel the wires and the whole thing came apart in my hand. Now I can almost feel the end of the key when its in the ignition. I can't get the ignition out. I've tried sticking a paperclip in the little whole and turning with the key, No luck. The paperclip goes in an inch or so then stops. Whats the trick? Its an 64 250 4x4.

Thanks

Turn the key to accessory and push the paper clip in and try to pull it out by the key. You may have to wiggle it around a little. It should pull right out.

Reach up behind the switch push it back towards you the bezel will lift from the dash slightly. Push the bezel in and twist like a tail light bulb. It should come out then you can replace the tumbler assembly they're available at NAPA.

Cool I just wish somebody would have told me how it worked when I did mine. It took me about 3 days to figure it out.
