Tach Problems

About 4 years ago, my tach went out on my 92 F-150 302, and then I replaced it after about a year (poor college student). It worked for a year and it went out too. Now that I have a real job I want to replace it, but I don't want to keep buying these things if there is some kind of short in the system, or the tachs are low quality. had anyone had a similar situation. What's the deal?

Tach Problems

Woo hoo! 400th post!
Ok sorry about that.

If you don't want to replace the tach in the instrument cluster, you could just buy an aftermarket tach. I bought one because I had no tach, it was like $35 and it works great never had a problem, and was easy to install. I just mounted it on the dash; I have a picture in my gallery if you want to look.

Not sure why it would go out two times but if you got another one, chances are it will go out again. You could follow the wires from the tack and see if something is shorting it out.
