What do you use to change the transmission oil on your transfer case? I tried using the chinese hand pumps where you have to connect the hoses. Well the transfer case oil siezes up the piston. I tried to get the plastic pumps you attach to the bottle and pump, but they are usually hard to find. I used an American rotary pump for use with a drill. That worked well, but I lost it. Bought a chinese one and it didn't work.
What permanent type of tool can I purchase? Really getting tired of things not working.
the drain plug and to fill,i screw on a gear lube cap to the atf bottle and squeeze it in the fill plug.
Does the "gear lube cap" have a hose attached to it?
Where can I get them?
Generally, I can't get the bottle high enough to get all the liquid out. That is the problem with this type of thing. Once you squeeze the bottle and you can't compress it anymore, you have only pumped out 1/3 and you have to release the bottle to let air fill back in. And then you run into first problem I mention- can't get the bottle high enough.
I'm really looking for a permanent type of metal tool. There must be something out there in the good ole days of American manufacturing? Maybe like a grease gun type of tool for oil.....

just unscrew the cap from a gear lube bottle;
screws right onto a quart of ATF.
there's plenty of room under a 4wd truck to empty an aft bottle into the fill plug.if not,simply grab a new bottle of atf and squeeze that in,then take your two now half bottles and fill up one and repeat as needed.the case only holds 2 quarts it's not very often you need to flush 'em.takes just a few mins.
I've done the diff tip enough times to know I hate it....and I know I'll do it plenty more times.
If I don't have access to a pump, I've actually siphoned fluid into trans and t cases by putting the bottle in the bed and running a hose under the truck with me. I don't mind that method at all.
I have used a primer bulb for marine fuel systems. My local walmart stocks them.
Yeah, I guess I will try that if worst comes to worst.
Believe it or not. I had a turkey baster in my truck tool chest that I used to drain some of the fluid in my steering pump reservoir and put in new fluid. That worked to put in a 1/3 quart in the transfer case till the oil started come out around the bulb lip.
Look at this post I found. That thing screw onto either a 1 quart or 5 quart bottles of oil (it comes with the adapter) and lets you reach just about any fill plug opening.
I have it and it works great for my transfer case. Think it was less then $10 at one of the cheapo auto parts stores like Autozone, Advance, etc
