i looked at a 1986 F-250 today at a dealer. hes selling it for 1700$ and little rust.
the question is how hard would it be to convert it to carb? like say a 390 ford or a 400, 351 or maybe even a 406
I have no idea what kind of tranny it is or transfer case. the tranny is auto, the transfer has hubs and the shifter not that auto hub crap and push button junk .
its got a 5.0 but the truck came with a 4.9 so it was changed to a 5.0, this motor run ruff and it looks like somone put a sealer in the coolent , i know this thing need a motor, so what kind of work is it to put a 351 or a 390 or a 406? whould i need a new tranny and transfer also?
IMO, that's way too much, by about half, for a truck that needs a motor. If you're going to spend less than 2k, look for a private party - you'll always get more for your money than going through a dealer.
If you do get it, The 351W will bolt right in and mate to the tranny. As for the other Motors you'll need Motor Mounts, Frame mounts and a tranny to do the swap.
