When my truck is cold it fires right up and runs fine. but when it runs for a while it starts sputtering every now and then and itll be somewhat harder to start if i shut it off hot. also when i start it up (cold and hot) itll idle good in park or neutral but it idles up pretty high if i put it in gear. after i run it around a little bit itll idle normal in gear and in park. any ideas?
My '96 F250 7.5L would run great, then out of nowhere, die. No lights, no codes. I got good at slipping it into Neutral on the fly and it would restart immediately but rereat a few more miles down the road. It was the Hall Effect sensor buried INSIDE the distributor. A new $85 distributor fixed it. My rough and erratic idle issues were previous fixed by replacing the Idle Air Control valve. Neither threw any codes in my truck. Best of luck to you.
I have a 96 as well with the 7.5l out of the blue it dies every once in awhile when I'm rolling into a stop light I replace the coil cap rotor and plugs and wires idk what it is but your story sounds like mine I would have to jam it into nuterual and it fires but sputters after a couple min. It will run. Has new fuel pumps maf and fuel filter as well help! Lol
