I just got my estimate from a local shop on what they would charge to regear my Bronco to 4.10's and I just about died. They wanted $1500 to regear the front and the back. Is this about right or are they trying to screw me? Does anyone know of any shops in southwest Missouri that would do this for cheaper?
Is it $600 just for parts and then labor on top of that? I am guessing that is what you meant since you are referring to randy's. What is the going rate for installation of gears? This is something that I want done right so I am going to have it done since I am not real sure about how to do it.

You can get the job done out here for less than a grand, parts and labor, no problem. I can't imagine it would be that much different where you are. Have you called around?
I got all the parts I needed to change from a 3.55 to a 4.10 in my truck for $458 in parts, 600 is steep for parts. I have ford racing 4.10 gears going in the back and am using a summit install kit. Got dana spicer gears for the front axle which comes with an install kit.
So far I can only find one shop in my area that will put them in. There is a guy in my 4-wheel drive club that can do it if he has the time. He used to do this stuff professionaly so he has the tools and the know how. Mustang where did you get the gears for the rear end at?
1500.00 is a little steep but you have to remember 1 thing about a shop is over head thats what always cost you no matter what plus what year bronco new style ifs those are not a walk in the park if they are replacing all gears bearings seals and setting everything up thats not bad 1 thing to remember the shop gives a better warrenty then the back yard mechanic you get what you pay for hope this helps

Summitracing.com for my 8.8 rear 4.10 gears ($190)and I got a summit install kit for 80 bucks. Went to drivetrain.com to get Dana Spicer 4.09 gears(stock replacements) for $188 bucks, which already has in install kit included.

A TTB does cost more than a straight axle to do, thought that does sounds about $400 higher than normal. I think the place to start is how much do they charge per hour and what does Chilton give for each axle?
