The TTB shouldn't cost much more than a straight axle. The pumpkin on a IFS comes right out. Maybe it does cost more but I don't why. The case break on a d44 is 3.92. So since I went to 4.09 I needed a new carrier in which I got the ARB air locker. For the rear, I am installing a limited slip, but there are no case breaks for the 8.8 so you're all set there.
Ok you guys think thats bad. I live in oklahoma and went to Sam's Off Road and was quoted $2200 Just for a D44 TTB gear swap. They wasn't even going to have to get under the truck, I had it off of it. Thats me putting the axle back on the truck too. $2200 Just to put it in one axle. I'm doing it my self. I have done a total tear down and rebuild of a F600 axle, the D44 should be a breeze I have the tools and got a set of 5.13's from Randy's. It set me back 320 for gears, case, and master install kit. I'm putting it under my B2 with 302 C4 stock transfercase, a one ton eaton rearend with 5.14 stock, turning a set of 39.5 swampers. Good luck. Hell I'd paid 1500 for front and rear and labor, but thats me. Would save me some time. Look at the toyota I put the F600 axle on, www.geocities.com/worldrecord1/rides.html
I had my ARB air locker installed for 600 bucks. That's harder than a normal R&P install. And I thought 600 was high! Luckily insurance picked that up.
MustangGT221, You say the case break for a dana 44 is 3.92. I've posted another thread where I'm trying to find some info on a dana 44 drum to a dana 44 disc swap and I'm getting conflicting info. If a 4.10 R &P won't swap in, can I swap in the whole carrier from my drum brake dana 44 to the disc brake dana 44? Any info would be appreciated.
