Steering Column Angle

A quick question about the steering column on a 1978 F250 4x4 I haven't been able to find an answer on. The steering column doesn't pass through the firewall at a 90 degree angle, so the steering wheel is pointed slightly towards the driver's side door rather than straight towards the driver. Is this original and intentional on this year of truck, or is there an issue I should look into? It doesn't seem to have any effect on driveability.

Thanks.

That is how it was designed.

The steering column is secured in position in two places: 1) The clamp/bracket under the dash (remove the cover plate), and 2) By a clamp and plate on the engine side of the firewall.

I recall the both have some adjustability... Or am I confusing it with a Bumpside?

Yeah - it probably got pulled out of adjustment over the years by people using the wheel as a handle to climb into the truck.
