Sounds like the 2016 beds are made out of aluminum and are redesigned? Anyone know if they can be made to work on a 2001 F350 as easily as previous beds? I have an option to get a new take off for a good price and my 01 bed is shot.

They aren't made of aluminum, you're thinking of the upcoming redesign. The 2016 bed is almost identical to the one on your '01.

There was lots of talk of the redesign being for 2016, but that was pushed back. I would be surprised if the next generation box would fit on your frame though. The different materials alone would make it very different structurally.

Would be a neat conversion though. Give it a shot in a year or so.

 

windyhill- depending on where you are, if that take off deal falls through I have a white long bed off an 05 350 for sale. Need to get rid of it and looking to make a deal.

No it's not special you have an F150. The super duty has not gone to the aluminum body yet.
