Broken head stud... ;(

Changing injectors in my dually today and notice a head stud is 'loose' in it's hole. This is what I pulled out...

Ugh!

In my experience it's easier to pull the motor than it is to pull the heads in frame. Especially studded heads.

Dang. Sometimes when a bolt or stud breaks it vibrates itself loose. See if you can fish/turn it out with a strong magnet on a rod.

Try a reverse drill bit. I think they come in a pack of 4 or maybe 6.

Edit: I don't know it they will fit length wise.

I can pull the engine in about 2hrs if I really want to. This stud is next to the #8 injector - i would not even try to fool with it in the truck!

Here's a time-lapse of my last engine pull:

Lol. Well, Eva has been in heat for the last 2 weeks and needs more loving than usual... She has been bugging me to death!!! Eva is definitely coming with me to Riffraff in the Rockies and probably Daisy too. Daisy has already traveled all over the country with me, but at almost 10yrs old she is starting to slow down.

We had to bury my brother and sister in-law's dog today (they live next door), so we are painfully aware we don't get to keep our furry friends long enough.
