Hi-
I'm in the process of turning my F-350 into an Overlanding truck and will be installing a FWC pop up camper on it as well as some minor suspension upgrades.
I am also interested in improving the traction of the rig and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with ARB lockers. As it currently sits the traction isn't that great. I'm not intending to go through any 3 foot deep mud bogs but at the same time I don't want to get stuck on the beach in soft sand etc.
I can't speak for ARB on a Ford, but when I was in the Jeep world ARB was highly regarded as being top shelf stuff...I can't see you getting hurt with ARB on your truck IMO.
Me, same as Long Haul. ARB top shelf stuff. Had on my Jeeps and only issue was air line came loose. I have used the OX locker as well. It is a cable operated system. It is solid as well. Can't go wrong with either.
i have a detroit locker in the rear of the F350 and off road its a beast. will say it gets u into them oh crap spots a lot faster then the stock weak LS ever could dream about. Just the other day i took the dog swimmming for his upcoming hunting season training and while in 2wd i nearly burried the truck in this goopy farm mud i didnt know was under the weeds/grass i was driving on. by the time i rocked it once and the rear sunk and then got out to lock in the hubs the rear axle was already dragging! this then required me to smash the skinny pedal to get the truck out, i could have maybe went easy but from the past when u start dragging either axle on a super duty into the earth its time for a tug OR time to HAMMER DOWN. i wasnt calling for help so it was motor/locker/KM2'S that got me out. my road manners are fine at times can be touchy with the locker and thats the only reason i wish i had ARB air locker so i could switch from open to lock when needed
ARBs rock! You probably have a rear locker already and that would almost double your trucks ability over a limited slip. A selectable locker up front would double your traction again. I find the biggest problem with my 12 is the wheel hop which doesn't allow you to get much traction.
After I added the rear Detroit it wheel hope like crazy on sandy terrain. Mud is fine and dirt depending on how hard or soft it is depends on the amount of wheelhop I'll get. Hope to add traction bars soon to stop this
