what is the benefit to changing out the Excursion to F250 springs? I keep reading about B or D springs something along that line?
V/B or X/C is typical. Stiffer ride to offset pathetic stock springs, along with between 1.5 - 3.5" of lift depending on engine, and how you combine springs. Tons of info in the tech sticky folder up top.

Yes, there's a thread floating around here on a full axle swap front and rear, it's very recent. Stock fits 35's, 37's possible with a mild 2.5" from Carli or similar. Dig a page or two in and you'll find it. All signs point to well worth it if you can find donor parts or a roller for a decent price.

It doesn't apply to you since you have a Fabtech lift on your rig, but most 4x4 Excursions with an OEM suspension suffer from what has been termed Excursion Wander. Basically, the leaf springs Ford put on the Ex are different than the leaf springs they put on the F-series trucks. General consensus is Ford did so to try and soften the ride for what they perceived as their target customer, soccer moms.
Unfortunately this created a situation where the leaf springs will have too much side deflection which allows a rear-steer scenario to occur. The problem is especially dangerous and exacerbated when towing.
To eliminate the problem, the most common method is to swap out the springs for leaf springs Ford put on the F trucks.
You can find COPIOUS amounts of information on this (and many other tech related subjects) in the tech folder thread stickied at the top of the Excursion forum thread listing page.
