Hey guys, I've got an 05 6.0 with hot start issues. This weekend I'll plug her in to a scanguage II I'm really curious. I'd like your thoughts about EGR delete please?
Lots of stuff on that here.
I know many states its illegal and won't pass inspections, such as here in CA.
Unless tuner overrides, the cel will stay on.
I see where some say it's great, others a PITA.

It will unless you hook a tuner up and turn the egr off. If you're doing the delete you'll have all but the heads of so it will make it easy to fix the hot no start (stand pipes, dummy plugs, stc fitting, maybe nipple cup orings.

That's what I was thinking, while I'm in there already...so as not to have to go in again but I didn't (don't) know what good the egr delete would do? I'm checking up on blue spring too, just learning, seeing what others are doing. Thanks for your reply!
Blue spring keeps fuel pressure above 50 psi because at 45 psi or less, injector damage can occur... no brainer.
EGR delete gets you less worries on oil coolers and over heating issues. Oil cooler clogs and then the EGR does not cool exhaust gasses like it should. Cracks the tubing and then begins to leak coolant into the intake. Coolant into a cylinder, white smoke, head gaskets... and you get the idea.
What WatsoR said. And on the CEL I've been driving mine for the last 4 months with the CEL on for low flow. Just haven't had the want to buy the tuner to turn it off. Only thing is I have to check to make sure the P0401 is my only code every now and then just to make sure Unless money isn't an issue do the work and save the tuner dollars for later. Doing all that stuff although not too expensive all the little things will add up and you will wonder where it all went
Thanks guys, in going to go ahead with the EGR delete and blue spring since my truck won't start now at all. I'll be doing the IPR and stand pipes and dummy plugs and whatever else the scanguage tells me. This is very, very frustrating.
I would get it running before making any changes. Find out why it won't start before you take it appart. If not you may start compounding problems. There are some realy good techs (not me) on this forum, get your scangauge 2 and get some help cranking it up. jmtcw

Agreed. I'm upset, I just bought this truck, and she's been nothing but problems.
Thanks for your advice.

I'm new to the 6.0. I bought a scanguage but reading the book it seems like it is made to do MPG's, will it really tell you all that? I am missing something.
