Tires For Excursion

I am needing to replace the tires on the Ex. I had Michelin LTX A/T 2s on it this past run. I liked them for towing and general ride quality, but they sucked off road and in the snow. I'm looking for something a little more aggressive for better off road and winter traction. I have been looking at the BFG KO2, General Grabber A/T2, and the Goodyear Duratrac. Anyone have any first hand experience with these on an Excursion???

I have been running Cooper AT/3s (33") on my 02 V10 Ex and they've been fantastic.

Great traction in wet, last winter I had zero issues in 4x4 in snow, and they're fairly quiet on dry roads.

They've worn very evenly and haven't worn too fast, even though my Ex is my DD.

I have BFG KO2 on my X and love them. They have been great in snow (deep, slush, icy - dedicated winter tires will obviously be even better) and are quiet in the dry. I tow a 24ft enclosed race trailer and the tires provide great stability. I cannot speak for the other tires you mentioned but I will buy KO2 again.

My vote is:

BFG ATs. Definitely a very aggressive all terrain, not to mention they look fantastic.

Cooper Discoverer AT3s also look great and are praised for how long they last.

Might look into a set of BFG AT2s. Its the new tread design

Tires For Excursion

I love my cooper At3s so far. Haven't tested them in winter yet, but in rain, sand, and mud they have met and exceeded my needs and expectations.

X-ford, the Michelins LTX A/T2 would be a great tire for that! Great ride quality, quiet, rock solid when towing, good tread life, and a great tread life warranty.

Tires For Excursion

I'm a BFG fan too!

So much so that I run them on BOTH my Excursions.

They've never let me down on or off road, whereas Michelins have.

A $1200 tow bill later and Michelin and I parted ways. Had I had some BFG all terrains, I could've dug myself out, but that's a whole other can of worms.

My vote is also for the BFG KO2.

Ford uses the BFG A/T KOs on the Raptor if that says anything...

I'm on my second set of KOs on my Jeep TJ and I probably won't ever try another tire to be honest.

Hehehe Sean never under estimate a wench she will at least take half if your not looking! We all know a winch can pull you out of a bad spot if needed
