plenum leak/dirty cause rough idle?
I am considering taking the plenum off to verify the gasket is ok (I will replace anyway) and clean it out. I have read posts stating that the plenum being dirty can cause a rough idle...can anyone verify? I am thinking about pulling the valve covers while I am at it to clean them out and verify that the drain under the pcv is clear. Maybe there is a vacuum leak that I can't find.

I don't know how old your truck is but, it is a good idea. I took one I got out of a junkyard for 12 bucks and had it dipped in a cleaning tank. I had to chip all the carbon out of the EGR passages when I got it back but everything else was brand new clean! I painted it black to match my truck and sanded the lettering on top so it was silver again. I removed the old one and just put the new one on. Also cleaned the throttle body, idle air bypass valve, all new gaskets. It really makes a difference. I also grabbed a set of injectors for a buck a piece and took them to a shop and had them cleaned and flow tested, I put those in at the same time.
