When I get positive result (power of positive thinking), should I do Injectors while I am in there??? New glow plugs are in hand...I will be inspecting everything while it is apart.
If the numbers come back bad it is getting punted to the corner...
230,000 miles on the truck, bought it 2,000 miles ago so I have no idea if they are new, used, or original.
I know most people say if it isn't broke don't fix it... but I HATE taking something apart, putting it back together and then having to take it apart again for some other reason!
With good numbers the other repairs that are already planned are up pipes, turbo rebuild, new boots, uvchs, maybe billet plenums.
As a side note the engine is out of the truck of the truck for a transmission rebuild and leaky oil pan...
Cant comment on the injectors, but since u have the engine out now would be a GREAT time to do your up pipes. Also to put some dynamat sound dampener mats on the fire wall between the motor and the inside of the cab in the engine compartment.
If you want to stay stock you could send them to Jim @ Rosewood Diesel to test them for you and repair if necessary. If you want to get bigger ones, make sure you have a plan for the truck. The bigger the injector, the more supporting mods you will need. Just don't want to have you throw your money away on parts that you will want to change again if you get a bigger injector.
What Darin said! I have stage II's and when I do my new truck I'll send them back to Jim to be made into stage I's. I did a lot of supporting mods but still could not keep EGT's down.
