By all accounts I thought it was a toploader. So. I ordered a slip yoke for a top loader. Wrong.
There is a tag riveted to the front of tranny. HEHP.021154.
Numbers cast in tail housing as best I can make out. 080R-7A040-C.
Diameter on transmission out put shaft measures 1.090 inch.
25 splines on out put shaft.
It is a close ratio gear 4 speed tranny.
I hope some one can tell me what gearbox I have and the correct slip yoke I need for it.
The o.d.(1.5 in.) on the top loader slip yoke I received fits snug in newly installed oil seal.
Thanks.
As I recall, the majority of 4-speed granny transmissions originally installed into '61-'66 F series Ford trucks would have been either the T-98, the T-18, the T-19 or the NP-435. These all had 28-spline output shafts. They also all had stick shifts coming out of the top of the case.
Are you sure on output shaft spline count is 25?
Now there was a run of 1964 289-equipped Mustangs that was installed with a 4-speed top loader (however, it did NOT have a granny gear) that had a tag# HEH-P.....

Go back and read my post more carefully. Close ratio gear 4 speed. Yeah. 25 spline. Counted it several times. Was there a 1964 Stang? Thanks.
HEH-P = 1965 Mustang with Ford 4 speed top loader. This trans was not installed in trucks.
Mustang introduced to the general public 4/17/1964 at the NY World's Fair, went on sale nationwide 4/23/1964, but Ford called them 1965's from the get-go.
Revamped Econoline went on sale 2/1968, but Ford called them 1969's from the get go.
Continental Mark III went on sale 3/1968, But Ford called the 1969's from the get go.
Maverick went on sale 6/1969, but Ford called them 1970's from the get go.
Ranger went on sale 3/1982, but Ford called them 1983's from the get go.
The slip yoke (between trans and driveshaft) has to be looked up in the driveshaft section of the parts catalog.
[QUOTE=hiball3985;15536090]HEHP should be a 1964 Mustang top loader 4 speed with 25 spline.
Ok. That is making head way. Had a heck of a time getting the correct clutch and fly wheel for it. It was only for some early model Mustangs. This tranny is mated to a 390 that I ran in a 1966 Effie 25 years ago. Some where along the way I lost the drive shaft along with slip yoke. So. Am starting from zero. Gonna go to the shop that set me up with clutch and fly wheel. See if he can get the correct slip yoke. Thanks for all the info and help. Woodsmoke.

"My mistake" "Sorry" This is definitely an imposter.
Ok, who are you and what have you done with DaDummy? Please give him back, this forum is not the same without him.
Nope, just made a dumb mistake...which I corrected within two minutes...once I realized I posted the wrong info.
The slip yoke is basic Ford part number 4841 .. The companion flange is basic Ford part number 4851.
Car/truck parts catalogs: The 4841 slip yoke is listed under the drive shafts.
Car parts catalog: The 4851 companion flange is listed by itself / Truck parts catalog: The 4851 companion flange is listed in the rear axle parts lists.
Well. It looks like I have a early model small block Mustang top loader hooked up to a 390. This is turning to a real pain trying to find a slip yoke for it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Look at the slip yoke chart in post 5 for a possible match.
