When I bought my truck 5 years ago, the first thing I did was put step bars on it as my wife was 6 months pregnant with our oldest girl and could barely get into the truck. After 5 years the desert sun has made the plastic brittle on the step pads and they are starting to crack and break.
Since funds were tight at the time I bought "generic" step bars from JC Whitney since the price was right. The bars are still in great shape and well built otherwise and I hate to replace them just because of the step pads. So has anyone had any luck replacing just the pads on your step bars?

Yes. You have to contact the manufacturer directly. Generally they will send you replacement step pads free of charge. Rip the old ones out, push the new ones in and be happy!

I guess I'll have to give that a try. Free would be a very good price.
