Question Top off?

I've never taken the top off of my 84 bronco but i love the way it looks. Everyone says it will leak or not fit right afterward, is this true?

No,that is not true,if you take the top off, store it and put it on with relative care. There is a procedure in your owners manual.Keep the weather stripping in good shape and store the top as per the manual.
Have fun!

man thats the first thing I did when it was warm enough. when I got the bronco I had to rebuild most off the floor. So I built it for MUD WATER and RAIN. patched the holes the covered it with ashfault undercoating then cut large sheets to cover it all. then covered it with that roll on bed liner. when I cut the top sheets I matched them to the shape of the floor so all in all I'm very happy with the way it looks and when it rains the water runs right out the doors. Ihad to put one drain plug in the middle behind the console but thats it. Now I run with no top and no doors I put water repelent on the seat covers. do I get dirty when I play in the mud? HELL YA !!!
have fun. lifes too short not to have toys

I've had my top off more than on for the last 3 years with no problems. Make sure you store it off of the floor/ground and take care not to lose any of the body clips. A little Vaseline on the rubber weatherstrips keeps them from drying out if you store it for months at a time like I do.

Bronco Mac,

I've taken my top(s) off and on for years with no leaking. Still have original weatherstriping. I store mine off the ground and I think that helps.

You must be hearing the leaky stories from the chevy blazer owners - they do leak

I've also driven in a light rain on a couple of occassions, as long as you are moving and it is not a heavy down pour, you wont get soaked

This is one of those answers that needs to be added to JBronco's FAQ, thread. The nymrod who keeps spreading that ludicrous rumor that a vehicle which had a REMOVABLE top, from the day the first version rolled off the assembly line in 1966, to the last one thrity-one years later, would LEAK if you took off the top that was designed to come off......should be drawn and quartered by four strong horses...I'm thinking a '66, '79, '91 (silver anniv.) and a '96. What do you say folks? I think, this answer needs to be the by-line for the forum. Big Bronco 1978-1996 (Yes,you CAN take the top off your's and NO it won't leak)!
