How's it going everyone, so I have a lot planned for my new build and just going to keep tabs with the progress I have as I go. Here is the truck when I first picked up. It's a 2002 Ford F-250 Lariat 4x4 7.3L PSD.
What did you have to do to the chrome to get it to take the black paint, and what kind of paint did you use?
Thanks in advance, Tom
I actually only pasti-dipped it for now, I never had with that including with my previous truck, for a more permanent solution, I'd sand, prime, and paint it, plan to do that in the future with a new bumper.
My previous truck before I got rear ended and totaled out, 2002 Ford F-150 Lariat FX4.
Why did you choose to paint the chrome? Makes it look more XL.
Since I did the whole 2007 headlight conversion, I went with the route where I replaced the head panel, so it's more of a temporary solution, reason for only plasti-dip, and I like the white and black off scheme, haven't really been a fan of chrome on my vehicles. I plan to get either the correct stock 2007 bumper or go with a winch bumper when I get the money, it's most likely going to be painted white to match the truck and still have the black grille and headlights.
Looking good, I like the contrast of the white with black duo tone finish.
Thanks, and yeah, I second that, I like the white on black off-scheme as well, my plan is to eventually get the truck painted the same charcoal gray as my F-150, but that's still in the air, taking things one step at a time, still selling stuff from old truck including the 315/70/r17 tires I had mounted on the stock fx4 rims, and once I do, it's going to pay for my lift.
So the next thing I ended up doing which wouldn't cost too much was do a foil delete and paint my intercooler piping. I went with what looks to be ford blue, something I haven't seen yet. Still have some work to do like scrub off the caked on oil, but that's another job.
