Honestly i would love to redo the gears myself and learn. Before i got the truck i hardly knew how to change the oil on a truck and now i've rebuilt half the truck myself lol. But being on limited income is the only holdback on doing 70% of the mods / upgrades i want.
Good idea though on a salvage yard. There is a 94 4x4 f150 manual in the lot by me....might be worth a shot. although since its 4x4 and mines 2wd im not sure if that would work?
Rear axles are the same on 2wd and 4wd trucks so it would be a direct bolt in.. hardest part would be reconnecting and bleading the brakes but that isn't that hard and doesn't require any special tools.. although this little kit turns it into a clean 1 person job.

Shoot if its just a direct bolt on then i may have to make a trip sometime and see what kinda diff is on it. ive bleed the brakes on this truck so many times i can do it with my eyes closed( not really but you get the point ) i even made the 1 person bleeder outa a soda bottle and some clear tubing.... a true life saver
Look around at some salvage yards for another axle with a 3.55 gear. Might get lucky and find one with a limited slip.
Just another follow up question, Im really taking this into consideration lol. So my yard has many old f150s, from 86 - 00, some 5.0's and some others such as the 5.4 and 4.9. I should still be able to go and if say one has a LS that im looking for i can just snag the whole axle and bolt up to my truck right? Does different engine liters matter? Since mine is a 5.0 so i need another 5.0 truck to swap from or will any do? its only around 100$ or so for the complete axle on any truck so i just wanna cover all bases before i go and grab one
1986 and later F150/Bronco rear axles have the VSS in it. Prior to 1992 the VSS was used for the RABS system only. Same VSS as the 1992 and later. Those use the raw VSS signal for the RABS then use a PSOM to buffer the signal for the computer (PCM).
Alright so my code reader came in today. Ran the KOEO and KOER tests.
For the KOEO i got it throwing the code 565 which is Canister purge solenoid circuit fault. I have no idea what that is or what its for so any inlightment would be nice. then the only stored code is a 124 which was Throttle Position sensor voltage above normal ( was because i revved the engine i guess when i was warming it up ) and then the KOER passed and has no stored codes. Fuel Filter will be changed within a few days once i can get under the truck and see how bad the bracket is rusted and find some quick disconnect tools (will also be checking pressure )
