I finally found out what was giving me the codes and engine performance issues. I figured it had to be something simple because during cranking the engine would spin over for over 3 seconds before firing off. I decided to hook up my fuel pressure gauge, and it showed 16 psi at idle and during a throttle snap. I disconnected the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator, pressure didn't change so now a faulty fuel pump or filter is suspect, looking at my records, i had replaced the fuel filter at 237,000 miles which was 13,000 miles ago. Lucky for me I have a supercrew and I found out when I removed the bed lol, on supercrews you CANNOT replace a fuel pump by removing the bed as the pump is under the cab. So you must drop the tank, I had a full tank of gas when I diagnosed the fuel pump so I worried as I drove to get the low fuel light to come on that the pump would fail completely but the Ford didn't leave me stranded! It was not that hard to drop the tank. I have a FX4 with the skid plates so it was a matter of removing the skid plate, fuel filler neck, tank straps, and lower her down, I placed adjustable bungee cords across the frame rails to support the tank when it dropped, removed the old pump, i replaced it with a Bosch off of amazon for around $60. To raise the tank back up I just placed my floor jack under and lifted it right up. It took me a total of 1.5 hours to r and r the fuel pump and now I have 35 psi at idle at 46 psi at a throttle snap. I noticed my fuel economy has went up also. With the 5.4 and a K&N CAI I used to get around 9 MPG going easy on the trottle, now I get between 13-14 MPG which is a huge improvement. I can easily break loose those wide BFG all terrain T/A's in a straight line again just like when she was new. I hope this helps someone that has the same issues that I had.
