The TST sensors go to sleep when not in use so no worry about battery life...
When I first got mine, I left them on the trailer before and when I turned on the receiver when I arrived at storage to hook up, they picked up before the trailer ever moved. This may not be the way they work now because they have changed the sensors over the years. That is why I started taking them off. My first set of sensors lasted about 4 years. They upgraded me to newer sensors when I sent the originals back for batteries and I have never checked to see what they do now I just got in the habit of taking them off.

I have the TST 510 and the manual says they dont trransmit when at zero pressure, so they suggest to remove while in storage to extend battery life.
You guys are right. I was thinking of my previous GARBAGE system called Hawks Head that went to sleep when not in use. Problem was, it never woke up. However, again, you're right about the TST system needing zero psi to shut down. Sorry...
