Just bought an 83 XLT, original and unmolested. I m thinking of changing the gearbox to a T5. I know its possible . The mechanic told me you can get one from a eb falcon 6 cylinder because the ratios are better than the V8 version. Im just worried how strong it will be coz as you would know she weighs almost 2 1/2 tonne already and I like to tow my boat around. Any ideas on a better gearbox with taller ratios that would suit. It currently has the New process 4 speed with a very low first gear, 6.8 ratio. She's a work in progress. Thanks
