I have a 2000 Ranger single cab. I also have a pair of Sony Xplode 6x9s. I tried to put them in and i noticed that there was not enough room because the magnet was against the metal. Would this cause a problem with the speakers or will i have to build a box?

You mean you tried to replace the factory speakers with 6x9"s?? If that's what you mean, no wonder it didn't fit....that's the wrong size for these trucks. The OEM speakers are smaller.

The super-duper 5x7/6x8 is the stock Ford size now... You'll need to space out those 6x9's to get them to clear the sheetmetal (the stock 6x8's are close enough), go get some 6x8 X-plod's, or cut out the rear speaker mounts and install 4 8" subs behind the seat... I chose option 3 (I was bored that day)
