has anybody installed a LED cup holder light kit? I purchased a kit, have tried to install it twice and failed both times.
I get the light attached to the cup holder with the RTV silicone but the cup holder will not snap back in place with the light string in the groove.
It seems the light string is to thick for the cup holder to snap back in place on the shifter cover. It's says it will fit my truck?? My truck is a 2014 and I've only had it for about a month so getting out the tremel is not an option.
I had to drill 2 small holes on the plastic frame at the back of the back of the cup holder, so the 2 light strings drop down inside the armrest. If I remember correctly, the instructions illustrate this.
I drilled a notch for the string ends......mine doesn't snap back in place like the light string is to thick.
If you installed the kit I assume you had no issues snapping the holder back in place?
What year is your truck?
I read in another thread where somebody also with a 2014 FX4 had the same problem as me....may be a truck year/model issue but you would think the seller would know what it fit
yep i have the same vid and followed to the letter....like I said getting the light string attached to the cup holder was no big deal it just will not snap back into place. I even got a screwdriver and tried pressing on the holder where the clips snap in but it would not attach. Pulled the light off and snap fell right in place. I've done this twice over the last two weekends even thinking the RTV wasn't cured enough so I let it sit for 3 hours then tried and the same just will not snap in......what a shame I think it's a great mod if it worked..and if the RTV didn't look bad......maybe I should try to tremmel off the clips a bit??
