Love my SD!!
I strayed once to a '96 GM with a 6.5 diesel, but that truck had so many problems that I sued GM in federal court. They really tried to fix the problems for 1 1/2 years, but I got tired of not having what I had paid good money for. Lemon laws don't always work, so I found out about a federal statute that offers a good route to get this settled. Under this statute, there is the"3 strikes" and yer out approach, which means if you take a car, truck,, RV, boat, back for the same problem 3 times in a row, there needs to be some solution provided to the purchaser. One of the keys here is documentation as well from your end. Also a neat part of this was GM had to pay my attorney fees etc. I turned the truck over to GM and asked them how much money they had in it at the time and they indicated over $ 55,000.00, I suggested it would have been cheaper to have used it for a crash vehicle.
As further background, I found this out by looking for "Ralph Nader" the old consumer advocate on the internet, he has a series of law firms across the country through C.A.S., (Center for Auto Safety), these lawyers will take your case, at least they took mine at NO cost, since they would be paid by GM(our fees were over $2000.00) Took about 3 months, but I went back to Ford and won't go to anything else again.
