Hi, I have a 2002 f250 4x4 7.3 and am having power steering pump problems, I checked with the local Ford dealer and the only thing the dealers have is some one else's worn out rebuilt POS, I also checked with an aftermarket place like Napa and the only thing they have is a rebuilt one, I actually got one from an aftermarket place and after a while its worse than my original one, what it's doing is it has lack of assist at idle almost like standard steering, if you rev the truck up a bit it helps, also the aftermarket one is starting to do the typical Ford growl at times whereas my original one was only lazy at idle, any idea who might have a quality one or where to get a new one not a rebuilt one??
At the time when I changed my original one my truck only had a bit over 50,000 miles.
I contacted Redhead as I thought they might sell pumps as well as the boxes but they said they don't.
Thanks for your time, Ken.
Aftermarket new Saginaw pumps are good, but often require some creative plumbing efforts to properly balance the hydraulic flows with a separate fluid return can mounted somewhere above the pump in the engine bay. If you search, you can find some threads where other SuperDuty owners have gone this route.
I can't find the link I wanted to follow myself, but here are some other quick links to some reading you can do...
