Positive or Negative System?

Usually Positive ground was used in English cars/trucks not American cars/ trucks.

Positive or Negative System?

I think you'll find that all modern cars are negative ground; that is, the negative side of the battery is connected to the body. However, in automotive wiring the controls or switches can be in either the positive or the negative part of the circuit. So a given circuit may be identified as either positive or negative polarity.
