Hopefully someone has an easy solution. I have a 2012 F150 screw xlt ecoboost with a column shifter. It does not lock out when the car is parked and key removed.
I bought the truck used and didn't give it much thought considering everything is electronic these days. Then this weekend my 2 year old was sitting in the front seat while I was loading my bicycle on the back and the truck rolled forward a little. Needless to say, It just became priority number one to get fixed.

Sounds scary, Olytlr; I'm glad you're having this addressed soon. I'd suggest getting your truck into the hands of your local Ford dealership; I know they'd be happy to help. How many miles are on it?
67K miles. It sounds like the brake interlock is not functioning. No recalls came up when I logged into the ford website but it seems like there maybe one regarding this issue.
I can't help you with the fix, but until this is addressed, you should probably be using the park brake every time, as that will at least keep the truck stationary.

Thanks for following up, Olytlr. If you decide to visit your dealership, they'll be able to run your VIN to see if any service bulletins would apply. Let me know if you decide to get them involved. I'll be able to step in and assist once they've looked over your truck.
I didn't find any recalls or service bulletins pertaining to my problem. I have had the truck for two months and I need to decide if I am going to take it to the dealer I purchased the truck from and see if they would fix it at their cost which is probably a long shot or just bite the bullet and take it to the local dealer. I was not impressed with the service I got from the dealer I bought the truck from.
I changed out the switch on the pedal because it was easy. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the issue. I called Ford and spoke with a customer service rep. Unfortunately, there is not a recall for my truck. I did find a NHTSA recall that describes my issue to a T but it only includes manufacture dates between Sept. 11,2011 and Sept. 22,2011. My truck was manufactured Dec. 7,2011. Needless to say the CS recommended I contact the dealership I bought the truck from and see if they would help me out.
I called the dealership and spoke with the sales manager. He agreed it was a safety issue that needs to be dealt with and said he would cover the diagnosis and once a solution is determined, work something out with me. I was satisfied with that. I set up an appointment with the service department. We'll see how it goes from here.

Thanks for the update, Olytlr! Come back and tell us how your appointment goes. I'll be here if you need any help.
