hi all, can anyone help as I have a 1999 f250 super duty and an old problem has reoccurred , I start the truck and as I put on the windscreen wipers the truck cuts out?? any advise will be appreciated regards Bert.
Sounds like an electrical wiring problem. Get a wiring diagram and find where the wiper ground is located. Check to see what else shares that ground. Look for loose or corroded connections. Post back what you find.
Thanks for the prompt reply David after speaking with an auto electrician
and being on my second alternator, bearing in mind that I said to him that the alternator gets hot on short trips he has advised me to fit new batteries.
so tomorrow the truck will get two new batteries in addition a new alternator.
many thanks Bert.
Today Ihave fitted a pair of new batteries & a new alternator, but I stillhave the same problem, with the truck running I turn on the windscreen wipersand all ok until I turn it to the last but one setting and then the truck cutsout??
dean done that a while ago and the problem went away, then came back and we replaced the plug that fits into it, on my second alternator now plus new batteries as we thought that the existing batteries were draining the alternator, it cuts out on the last but one setting on the windscreen wiper setting??
bert
CPS is Ford or aftermarket? Many tines, the aftermarket CPS's do not work well. Get one from Ford, or Clay at Riffraff. Does the cutout happen if you turn the wipers to the fast setting?
Slow setting?
Only on an intermittent setting?
May investigate cleaning/relocating the wiper ground.
