I got to mine to confirm that it is broken by removing the bottom duct that distributes heat to the driver's feet. It is right above the transmission hump. Once it is off you can reach up in there and feel the blend door. Check that the hinge isn't broken.

Going way back into the memory bank, but there is a servo motor located behind the radio and toward the driver's side. It has two vacuum inlets and acts to position the door toward the vents, I believe. My son had a stereo unit installed and then began to find the A/C or Vent blowing through the defrost, especially when the vacuum was low [passing on the highway or going uphill]. All hoses and connections seemed fine until I saw that one of the vacuum inlet hoses for that servo motor had been loosened during the stereo installation [close quarters]. Once the very small vacuum line was secured, everything went back to normal.
