I replaced my spark plugs to try and fix a engine skipping on a 1 or 2 cylinders. The job was a little rough but too terrible. I was able to get all of them without removing fuel rails.
When started engine with a little throttle cause engine wouldn't crank in idle position. The engine started slappin and carrying on in the front cover, possible timing chain . engine was now skippig worse than before i started.
After a cool down time passed, I found water in crankcase. This is the first time i blew an engine because i changed spark plugs.
truck has 205,000 miles on it.
it is at the the repair shop getting a replacement engine now. the doner is a 2000 f150, 4x4 -4 doors p/u.
ole well life goes on.
Changing the spark plugs DID NOT cause your engine to go bad. The diagnosis of the spark plugs causing the miss was just wrong. You also have an IAC problem that will need to be fixed if you transfer it to the "new" engine.
Why people just replace an engine when something goes wrong is beyond my comprehension. I have been repairing engines for more than 50 years and rarely have to replace one unless it has a damaged/cracked block.
