Has anyone put an aftermarket keyless entry on their '99 F350? (or any other superduty for that matter) What brand? How hard? Does it work well? Where you get it? Any opinions would be great.
well, ive heard its kinda hard to do. But i would imagine that the hardest part is getting to all the wires you need to get to. Best buy sells a basic one for 120 installed. But i can find them online for around 40 or 50. I HATE the thought of having other people work on my truck (hence the reason no one else has ever worked on it) but if i cant get to the wires i need to, i might have someone else deal with the headache.
f350xlt460, I have been looking for the same type of info. I found some install info. I also been checking ebay for ford keyless entry units. If I find any thing else i'll let you know.
I have installed one in my 02, some how I overlooked the keyless entry when I purchase the truck. It’s simple to do all the power lock connections can be make from the behind the drivers side kick panel. The battery, horn and interior light connections are just under the steering column. Very simple install.
All I did was contact my selling dealer and asked them who they use to repairs the factory radios and install keyless entry/alarms. I contacted the vendor and they sold me a Factory authorized kit, works just the factory setup, even the key fob’s have Ford printed on them.
I just talked to my local dealer, and they have two units. One is the factory Ford kit,a nd the other is an aftermarket kit. The second one comes with the full warentee just like the Ford unit. They want $299 for the kit, or $350 installed. The factory kit was almost double the price installed. My particular truck (XL, crew cab) doesn't have even electric locks, so it will need all 4 solonoids and all. That was included in the prices stated above.
