Demco Hitchhiker feedback

After towing travel trailers for quite a few years, my wife and I are getting ready to buy our first fifth wheel. We've upgraded our tow vehicle to a 2015 F250 with the fifth wheel prep package and are looking for feedback about the Demco Hitchhiker. We're actually looking at the Demco Hijacker Autoslide Hitch (part #DM8550024). It appears that this hitch will do the job, it matches up with the prep package, the price is right and it's made in the USA. So, what do you folks feel about this fifth wheel hitch? Good, bad, indifferent?

I don't know what the prep package consists of - do you already have the underbed rails?

I am a big fan of the Anderson Ultimate Hitch system. See here: https://www.andersenhitches.com/Cata...onnection.aspx

A whole lot less expensive (about 1/2) than the model you speak of. I have send a question to Anderson about how they hook up to the new Ford underbed system. If you are interested I can forward to you their answer.

Sorry, I have never seen the hitch you are talking about, so I can not comment on it.

Yep, the underbed rails are in place and there are four holes for mounting the hitch and a fifth in the center for gooseneck applications. Here's a photo that will probably describe it better than I can! ;-)

That would be great if you could send me a copy of the information that you receive.

Nice...if you can put a gooseneck ball in that center puck you can use this model Anderson Ultimate Hitch: https://www.andersenhitches.com/Prod...k-version.aspx

Amazon has a pretty good offer for one too:

I have the demco autoslide and like it a lot. It tows good when setup correctly. You don't have to worry about hitting the cab. It does jerk sometimes when I turn sharp from a stop. But if you pull forward a few feet before you turn it is smoother. It is a little heavy though. It's not a one man thing to remove it. I back up against a retainment wall I have an put it on a handtruck. It's easier.

I have an older Hijacker hitch in my '11 with Hijacker under bed rails.
The hitch head is a very simple design with an adjustment for pin slack and easy lube points. One engaged you will never drop out of the receptacle.
Mine was built by Hijacker here in Victoria before Demco bought them out.
