AC problems.

AC problems.
So just bought the van a while ago. And need a ac...
So here's what's it doing.
First it does not blow cold. But hot setting will blow hot when it does blow...
It does not always come on when I try to turn it on. It actually doesn't work more then it does.
This problem is for all settings including defrost, floor, low high.
IT DOES NOT SWITCH TO DEFROST RANDOMLY.
also I had engine running issues which have since been solved. So smoke test have been performed although I'm not sure if they would have tested the ac system or not.
Any thoughts?

Your description is a bit confusing or unclear.
From what I can deduce there are possibly two different issues, first one being intermittent blower operation, the second being no cold air---are those the extent or are other issues also present?
