Question, not Ford specific.

Friend has a 1995 Jeep (he also has THREE Ford trucks).
Jeep mainly for hunting though he drives it around a lot. At least he used to.
He just likes it.

The battery died and it has sat in his driveway for over 2 years collecting rain, dirt, and lots of south GA ultraviolet rays. I guess he doesn't like to drive it so much as to buy and install a battery.

Anyway he is of the opinion that all he needs to do is install new battery and start driving again. I worry that after two years of just sitting he needs to do something additional to avoid harming engine/drive train. Like squirting oil into the cylinders or turning it over a few time passively to lube it up a bit.

So tell me oh ye experts, what should be done?

I'd just install the new battery, dump fresh gas into the tank and try starting it. While GA weather might seem horrible its a far cry from Ohio which is where sitting around for so long might be an issue in the same situation.

My guess is there's nothing to be overly concerned about---can't hurt to at least give it one try.

Thank you for your thoughts. I will pass them on and try to get him motivated.
Jeep is just sitting there with tires going to ruin along with other things while he continues to pay taxes, as well as insurance.
Owner is a great guy but also is one of the world's great procrastinators.

We can fix or advise about a lot of things here on FTE----can't do much about the unmotivated.

Hell some days I have a tough time getting ME on the move!
