So, I bought an 07 6.0 and want to straight pipe it. I am told that if I do, I will need to get "Dummy O2 Sensors" due to the lack of back pressure. Is this true?

As was already mentioned, there is no DPF on the 6.0.
What you might have to do if you are messing around with the emissions systems is to get a custom tuner that has tunes that disable the EGR system.
I plan on getting an EGR delete kit and stud the heads before I get the tuner.
But if there isn't a DPF, then is that a catalytic converter in front of the muffler? Either way, do I need to get the dummy O2 sensors?
You'll need the tuner to shut off the programming for the EGR.
Although, I've never been a fan of an EGR delete and I was running modified injectors and a bigger turbo but still had a functional emissions system, but I digress on that point.
No 02 sensors. The 6.0 was the last of the diesels with minimal emissions controls.
ok...so just to verify...I can straight pipe the truck and I wont get any codes?
If you only go from the turbo to the exhaust tip, you shouldn't need anything.
If you manipulate the EGR, you SHOULD get a tuner. I would heavily suggest a tuner that allows for custom programming. Off the shelf tuners don't really do well with the 6.0.

When I used the 6.0, it was SCT and Spartan Phalanx were good choices.
The only thing the tuner will do for the egr delete is turn the check engine light off for the insufficient flow code. It won't effect drivability. You will want to leave the egr valve itself hooked up so the fan will work correctly.

If I'm not mistaken an EGR code will get you into EPA Limp mode. Depending on what update he is running.
By in mind, welding off the EGR etc, you can run the risk of leaks due the delicate nature of the welds and that can cause very poor experience as well.
No such thing as limp mode on 6.0.
You get defuel at a certain temp but that's it. I've been driving for months after my delete with nno tuner no issues. Although since the check engine light stays on I hsve to check codes more often to make sure no other code is present My main point was you can do the delete and not add a tuner until you really want too ( economic reasons) if that's his thing.

It depends on what ford programming the truck has on it. As time went on, they tweaked things on the programming that helped (or sometimes hurt).
Having said that. Deleting the EGR is illegal, regardless if you have emissions testing in your area or not. So if economic reasons are a concern, if you get busted, there goes your savings right there and around where I am at, a few people got cited. One puffed smoke almighty bad and TN (and TX too) aren't typically gung ho about that unless you are being really obnoxious.
Correct. His being an 07 it had the strategy yhat will yhrow the low flow code. Hopefully he doesn't live where they push those things. If in a place that checks a bpd cooler would be in order or do the stealth delete by welding slugs in place but if he's thinking of straight pipe I doubt he has to worry much.
