Hey guys, I am a idiot when it comes to electrival on the truck. I would like to test fire my engine before I button and start painting everything. How can I test fire it and what am I looking for or what wires to jump to get it started also any pictures would help out a lot. It's out of a 1963 f100

Thanks guys

Howdy,

Sorry someone hasn't answered you yet!

You'll just need to operate the starter and have 12v to the "+" side of the coil.

It'll take piece of wire from the battery "+" to the plus side of the coil (or ballast resistor) and either power the starter solenoid (to engage it) or use jumper cables directly to the starter.

Let me also add that if there is a ballast resistor and you bypass it, do not run the engine very long or leave the 12v connected to the + side of the coil for long or you will over heat the coil and possibly destroy it.

Regards,

Rick
