Super duty 6.2 liter gas reliability

I'm thinking of trading in my 07 dodge hemi half ton. I bought this truck after getting the screw job from ford on my 6. 0 diesel.

It's been a very reliable vehicle but I'm looking at 3/4 ton dodge and ford as I want a solid front axle and don't tow enough, often enough to justify a diesel. Especially with all I've heard of diesels lately. I'm thinking 2012 to 2014 Any issues out there I should be aware of? Engine, transmission, electrics?

Thanks.

Everything I read and hear about the 6.2 is it's a strong dependable gas motor. Plenty of power and decent gas mileage. I love mine with only 8300 miles. One thing to note is the injectors are a bit loud. I noticed it when I first bought it. Now I don't really notice it. I can't hear mine from the cabin. Only when I pop the hood.

#1...My 2011 6.2 was a BEAST! gobs of power. It needs to spin to get there but it sounded mean, and with zero maintenance issues and low maintenance cost, I loved it.

#2...My current 2015 6.7 is a BIGGER BEAST! I tow my 8,000 Lb TT in cruise control at 65 and it rarely downshifts, it loves to work, and work hard! I have had zero problems in 10,000 miles so far, maintenance cost is not as bad as some say it is. I don't tow daily or as a job myself, but as a daily driver, part time hauler it is a fantastic truck.

The injectors on mine were pretty loud too, but this never bothered me. I you are not used to it it can be alarming. Milage for me was 13-14 mixed, and 7-9 towing. My 6.7 gets 15-17 mixed, and 11-12 towing.

I've read a lot of good things about the 6.2 as well. I only have 3000 miles on mine so I can't say too much. I do like it so far.

If I didn't need the strength of a diesel for our 5th wheel, I would move to a 6.2 in a heartbeat. I've talked to several owners as I have considered a newer truck and every one of them is happy - but it doesn't have the pulling power to comfortably haul, IMO, a 12K++, 38-40 foot RV.

I picked up my new 6.2 yesterday. Obviously can't say much about reliability but I did pick it over the Ram. Don't think there is a wrong answer. I like the SD a bit more because of styling and I simply always wanted one.

I compared re-sale values and the Ford was better. I used kbb to compare prices and the SD was several thousand higher.

What do you guys mean by loud injectors? I do notice, when cruising at 55, and I'm on an incline, the truck will hold 6th gear as long as possible and make a growling noise until it downshifts.

Good luck OP on your search.

I think they're about as reliable as they come. They lack the low-end grunt of the V10 of previous generations, but they are more efficient and don't seem to break often.

4500 miles in, and I love it.

While a rougher ride than a 150, I wouldn't trade it.

On my 2012 there are near 80K miles and no issues at all been a great truck with a strong engine and a perfect match with the Transmission.

Thanks for all the replies. I was a major Ford guy until I bought my 6.0 in 2005, I'm thinking of going back to them. Always felt like they made the best trucks.

I've got over hundred thousand miles and have only done routine maintenance (plugs and fluids). My neighbor keeps kicking himself for buying the 6.7 every time I give him a ride to the dealer to get his truck. We bought at the same time and I've got twice as many miles on with only one trip to the dealer for a false reading on an O2 sensor. But his will definitely out pull mine any day. In saying that, I have had to pull his travel Trailer back from the lake for him twice now.

The OP is coming out of a Hemi, so I don't think injector noise is going to bother him. I traded my '14 Hemi Ram for this '15 F250 with 6.2 and I don't hear any injector noise. LOL
