Temp. gauge in cab

I just bought a 2000 f-150 2wd 4.6L V8 I am getting out of an 87' ford F-150 and alot has changed under the hood. My temp. guage in the cab will not move much off of cold while i am running for long periods, I changed the thermostate, checked the coolant level and all seems ok. Can some one tell me where the sensor is that sends the temp to the gauge?

They very rarely move anyway. The only time my temp guage has moved up past the normal setting is when I had an air bubble while I was doing a coolant change. I wouldn't worry about it.

The temperature sensor actually measures the temp of the head, and not the coolant. It's located on the top-front of the driver's side head

Well It never even gets to the normal range, I thought it read block temp and not coolant temp. but I was not sure.
