I have a 2013 XLT with a sirius enabled radio. my display works (time, date, shows bluetooth connected) but no sound is coming out of the system. any ideas what this could be? i tried replacing the cd player/motherboard but that did nothing... could it be a fuse?
Is your truck still under warranty? I would have checked fuses probably before anything but yes it could be a fuse. Is the display showing radio stations, cd tracks, etc.?
nothing related to music is displaying. its only the time, date, and temp that shows on the screen. when i hit the power button, you can see the radio try to power up but then immediately shut down.
I assume you are out of the 3 year/36k warranty. If this is the case I would check fuses. If everything checks out I would then assume that the radio has failed. Of course, this is odd if you already replaced the cd player.
I would look at aftermarket options if all fuses check out. I would also check the status of the vehicle battery just because the battery management junk is weird.
But you could try a hard reset. To do that disconnect the battery in the truck for at least a minute. Then reconnect and power up the radio to see what happens.
I had all kinds of radio issues, I went so far as to get an aftermarket radio from Crutchfield which is great but the install has been a total pita. I have the replacement radio interface, the proper harness, etc. There is something internal going on with my truck and the only way I get the radio to work right now is hard wiring it to the battery directly. I cannot get the truck to recognize that the key is on and to enable 12volts to run through the proper wires in the harness and the interface. I don't know if its a serial bus module or some other computer issue but it's freaking annoying. Plus I now have no display on the data screen, no temp, no clock, no compass, nothing.
Personally if I had to do it over again, I'd go directly to Ford even without a warranty. It all started with my stereo completely cutting out or not powering up to begin with. I'd get a blinking clock and no power to the stereo. I know it is an issue they have from time to time with integrated stereos.
